SYNChronicity (SYNC) 2024, the national conference for HIV, HCV, STIs, Harm Reduction, and LGBTQ Health. SYNC 2024 will focus on SYNCing to end the epidemics by driving discussion and strategy development around the innovation and implementation necessary to make an impact. 

Below is information on how we will use abstract submissions to develop our conference.

Topics/Disciplines

Abstract submissions are from the following disciplines: 

• HIV Prevention
• HIV Treatment
• Hepatitis C
• STIs
• Harm Reduction
• LGBTQ Health

The SYNC approach to abstracts is a forward-thinking strategy that promotes a more comprehensive and nuanced understanding of health, helping to break down traditional silos in healthcare research and policy-making. It facilitates the development of multifaceted strategies to tackle the syndemics of health challenges diverse populations face.

Format

Sessions will be presented in the following formats:

• 20-Minute Presentation (as part of a 75-minute concurrent track session with other abstract authors)
• 75-Minute Presentation (as a full 75-minute track session)
• Poster Presentation
• 30 to 60-Minute Podcast Episode

20-Minute Presentation
A 20-minute oral presentation as part of a 75-minute concurrent track session that describes a research project, program, best practices, innovative tool, and/or approach to a topic. Individual submissions will be grouped with others that reflect a common topic/theme. Presenters submitting for this type of session may include slide presentations, brief videos, group exercises, and/or focused discussions on a topic. Creative formats outside of traditional lecture/Q&A patterns are encouraged.
Presenter Maximum: One (1)

75-Minute Presentation
A 75-minute presentation provides an in-depth exploration of a program innovation, emerging issue, clinical challenge, or findings from a research project or quality improvement initiative.  Presentations may include slide presentations, group exercises, and clinical case studies. Creative formats outside of traditional lecture/Q&A patterns are encouraged. A 75–minute oral presentation is generally comprised of up to two speakers and a moderator.

Poster Presentation
Posters offer a succinct view of program and practices, policy issues, or research analysis. Posters will remain available for viewing throughout the conference, if possible. Presenters should be with their posters during their scheduled viewings. Specific guidelines for printing the poster will be provided upon acceptance.
Presenter Maximum: Two (2)

Podcast Episode
A podcast episode would be a 30 to 60-minute digital audio or video program, available for streaming or download. A proposed podcast can include discussions, interviews, storytelling, educational content, news, entertainment, and more related to HIV, HCV, STIs, harm reduction and/or LGBTQ health. The author would be responsible for content recording and submission.
